It’s thought that the updated Face ID will work over a wider angle, so lying flat on the table will no longer be off-limits. If you’ve ever tried to unlock your iPhone XS when it’s lying on your desk by leaning vertiginously forward and opening your eyes really wide, you’ll know it doesn’t work. Removing the 3D Touch layer frees up space which could be used for Pencil compatibility instead. Seeing as every rumor says the new iPhone displays will be the same size as last year, there’s every reason to think the Retina display will remain unchanged at 458 pixels per inch on both 5.8in and 6.5in sizes. Whenever you see leaked handsets (though no leaked iPhone has appeared) it’s still near-impossible to guess the resolution of the new phone. This will be the first Pixel with two cameras. Google’s two-tone back is gone, as is the huge notch on the Pixel 3 XL. Oh, there could be a new color, a matte instead of a glossy finish or even a different edge material. However, though rumors suggested the bezel would be huge, a leaked image suggests it’s not too big at all.Īpple’s phone will look identical to last year’s except for a big bump with three cameras. Of course, we’ll be looking at these phones from the front most of the time, so that’s probably what’s more important. It also seems the word iPhone may be removed from the back of the handset and the Apple logo itself moved further down the phone. It’s a design which is less controversial on the Pixel, and we’ll have to wait and see if it becomes more popular on the iPhone when we, you know, actually see it.

So, we know that dual cameras will sit in a big square bump in the top left of the new Android phone while every leak has consistently told us that Apple will have a similarly square bump with three lenses in it in about the same position. The rear of the Google Pixel 4, for example, leaked months ago and has since been confirmed by the company.
